From Santiago do Cacém to Fafe. The 2025 Enduro European Championship moved 500 km to race the second round of the season, marking a thrilling moment for the series, as it was held alongside the EnduroGP World Championship, creating a unique and action-packed weekend in Portugal.

This landmark event offered spectacular racing and an elevated experience for both riders and fans, showcasing the synergy between the two championships. While EnduroGP riders kicked off their weekend with the traditional Friday night Supertest, European competitors joined the action starting Saturday morning.

Both championships shared the same demanding 63 km loop, which featured three special tests: the Extreme Test of 1.8 km, the Cross Test of 6.6 km and the Enduro Test of 5.5 km. EnduroGP riders completed three laps per day, while Euroepan ones raced a slightly shorter version with strategic shortcuts, completing two laps per day.

On day two at the opening round of the 2025 Paulo Duarte FIM EnduroGP World Championship, it was TM MOTO Boano Factory Enduro Team’s Zach Pichon who raced to his debut EnduroGP overall victory, while taking an early lead in the championship. GASGAS Factory Racing’s Andrea Verona narrowly missed out on the win in second, with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Josep Garcia completing the podium in third.

Breakthrough EnduroGP victory for Zach Pichon

Fired up after his third-place finish on Saturday, Honda Racing RedMoto Enduro Team’s Steve Holcombe came out all guns blazing on lap one. Setting the fastest time in the first POLISPORT Extreme Test, over five seconds faster than day one winner Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Josep Garcia, Holcombe then went on to comfortably top the following two tests.

After lap one, the Brit enjoyed a 20-second lead over TM MOTO Boano Factory Enduro Team’s Zach Pichon, with Garcia hot on his heels. GASGAS Factory Racing’s Andrea Verona was lying in fourth, a further four seconds behind.

After a rain-soaked AKRAPOVIC Super Test on Friday night, which saw a surprise victory from SuperEnduro star Dominik Olszowy (RIEJU), the Portuguese weather improved for the first full day of racing on Saturday in Fafe. Characterised by impressive landscapes marked with huge boulders, the GP of Portugal is always a fan-favourite.

Josep Garcia wins EnduroGP on day one

Making his intentions clear from the off, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Josep Garcia came out swinging on the opening POLISPORT Extreme Test to win by over two seconds. Close behind him was Honda Racing RedMoto Enduro Team’s Steve Holcombe, with GASGAS Factory Racing’s Andrea Verona a further five seconds down.
