De loting voor de startplaats betekende voor sommigen wat werk maar na 17 intensieve ronden en twee uur rijtijd kwam de fitte Daan Bruijsten toch mooi als eerste bij de geblokte vlag. Thierry Pittens lag lang tweede maar moest op het eind toch wat toegeven. Max Schwarte kreeg die beker en Tommie Jochems eindigde keurig op drie.
Wels, Austria – May 18, 2021 — Following the challenging circumstances that unfortunately plagued the opening round of the 2021 FIM Hard Enduro World Championship at Extreme XL Lagares and then led to the subsequent cancellation of this year’s Red Bull Erzbergrodeo, the series is ready to bounce back strongly after this unprecedented double-disappointment.
With this chapter now closed, the FIM and WESS GmbH are now looking forward to the re-start of this year’s series, and to having the opportunity to deliver a diverse and exciting mix of events over the remainder of the season.
The next six events will ensure that the inaugural series is remembered for all the right reasons, whilst also being worthy of crowning the first ever FIM Hard Enduro World Champion. Rally- en dakarrijdster Mirjam Pol zal haar eerste wedstrijd in 2021 weer op de motor rijden. Ondanks dat het jaar nog jong is en het onzeker is hoe het jaar gaat verlopen, heeft Pol voor haarzelf een interessant en mooi seizoen uitgestippeld richting Dakar 2022.
Vorig jaar maakte rallyrijdster Pol voor het eerst kennis met het fenomeen ‘Baja’ en dat heeft haar getriggerd om eens te kijken naar een andere voorbereiding: “Ik heb besloten dat ik dit jaar meer korte, grote internationale wedstrijden wil rijden. Normaal focus ik mij op één of twee rallies per jaar, nu heb ik mijn zinnen gezet op deelname aan de World Cup Baja 2021.”
Uit comfortzone
“Een baja bestaat uit twee of drie wedstrijddagen terwijl een rally uit minimaal vijf wedstrijddagen bestaat. Ik ben eigenlijk een dieseltje en kom normaal gesproken pas na een paar dagen echt goed op gang. Baja’s zijn dus wedstrijden die niet echt in mijn straatje liggen maar daardoor moet ik wel uit mijn comfortzone komen en ik denk dat dat goed is en leerzaam kan zijn”, legt Pol haar besluit uit.
Jan en ik zijn zondag 1 november vertrokken naar Marco de Canaveses in Portugal voor mijn GP debuut in de enduro. Dinsdag waren we dan eindelijk op de plek van bestemming, het was een lange reis. Ik had mooi een paar dagen om de proeven te lopen en een indruk op te doen hoe een enduro eruit ziet in Portugal, en dat was wel even wat anders dan in Nederland.
Vrijdag ging het Paddock open en konden wij het kamp gaan inrichten, de motoren laten keuren en ons zelf laten testen op Covid 19, gelukkig was de test negatief en ik mocht starten op zaterdag.
De eerste wedstrijddag was ik best wel zenuwachtig. Maar ik had er erg veel zin in. Met 14 min tijdstraf ben ik de eerste dag binnen gekomen

In Open 2-stroke, the current leader Gonçalo REIS (P – KTM) will be at home, which will potentially give him even more of on advantage than usual. But behind him, three riders are also ready to fight for the podium. Indeed, only four points separate Robert FRIEDRICH (CZ – KTM), Samuel DAVIES (GB – KTM) and Gonçalo SOBROSA (P – Beta) in the standings behind REIS.
Portugal’s Frederico ROCHA (Husqvarna) and Ricardo WILSON (Beta) will try to play spoilsport and beat their compatriot on home turf.
Meanwhile, Italy’s Filippo GRIMANI (Beta), Spain’s Marti ESCOFET VALLDOSERA (KTM) and Chile’s Tania GONZALEZ (Fantic) will be keen to shine on their first participation in Open 2-Stroke!Open 4-stroke: Who will take the advantage between DIETER and VAN HOOF?
