WK Portugal Mathias van Hoof: Spanning troef in Portugal

Voor de twee laatste wedstrijden van het wk enduro reisde Mathias Van Hoof af naar Marco de Canaveses in Portugal. Door de toenemende covid – 19 epidemie gaan de beide wedstrijd weekends door op dezelfde plaats. In de World cup open 4s klasse is de tussenstand zeer spannend en stond de Herentalse Husqvarna piloot op een gedeelte eerste plaats samen met landgenoot Dietger Damiaens.

De supertest die normaal vrijdag s’avonds wordt georganiseerd voor het publiek werd geschrapt. Het paddock, de specials en het podium werd volledig afgeschermd voor het publiek. Alle piloten, teamleden en organisators

WK enduro Portugal met Max Schwarte

Portugal dag 1: Zo ! Wat een dag !
Maar we zijn binnen. Ook nog een nieuw bandje geklapt zoals dat heet. Wel met een paar strafminuten maar dat maakt niets uit. Uitrijden en overleven is het belangrijkste nu. Sherco doet het goed en eerlijk gezegd had Max het zwaar te verduren. Vooral de route is zwaar (daar kan ik over meespreken).
Na de middag veel regen en dan wordt het dubbel zo zwaar. De derde ronde was een martelgang voor Max. Ik heb diep respect voor hem dat ie die doorgekomen is, hij heeft endurokarakter getoond.
De regen klettert weer (gezellig op mijn dak ?). Morgen gaan we er weer tegenaan.
Portugal dag 2: Nou die is kort helaas.
Gisteren was zo pittig dat Max niet erg fit was maar goed we gingen ervoor. De eerste proef ging redelijk maar daarna een regen! En dan ben je gezien.

WK enduro Portugal dag 2: twee uitvallers voor Nederland

Ook vocht achter de lensVoor Max Schwarte was het na de eerste proef over. Een reden is nog niet bekend. Mike Bokslag stond na vier proeven 10e van 13 rijders in de Youth klasse. Maar op de route tussen proef 5 en 6 hield de motor er mee op. Waarschijnlijk iets met elektrisch en vocht. Tegen de tijd dat ze hem gevonden hadden en de motor weer aan het lopen kregen, was het kwartier al voorbij. Jammer want het ging lekker en hij kon het goed volhouden.
In de EnduroGP ging de winst naar Josep Garcia maar het kan natuurlijk zijn dat Freeman (2e)  en Holcombe (3e) meer naar elkaar keken. Garcia deed voor het eerst mee dit jaar, dus die wordt geen kampioen. Wel fijn dat hij mee “mocht” doen.

EnduroGP Portugal day 1: Down To The Last Special Test!

The first day of the Acerbis GP of Portugal was action-packed and it promises yet more to come! Three special tests perfectly carved out by Moto Clube Marco, drier weather than expected, and riders all keen to do battle after more than a month and a half of break – everything was in place to have a hell of a day of racing!

And that’s what we got in EnduroGP! While Brad FREEMAN (GB – Beta) started out very strong and took the lead on the first lap his great rival Steve HOLCOMBE (GB – Beta) was closing in. The dark horse of weekend, the returning Josep GARCIA (E – KTM) was also pushing hard, ready to jump on the slightest mistake from the defending champion.

EnduroGP: For The Last Time!

After a little more than a month with Enduro action, and despite the health situation linked to Covid19, the FIM Borilli EnduroGP World Championship is back on track this weekend for the 3rd and penultimate round of this very special 2020 season!

More Than 10 Years Later…
Marco de Canaveses and Motor Clube Marco have been chosen by the FIM, ABC Communication and the FMP (Portuguese Federation) to host the traditional Portuguese EnduroGP. On this occasion, the organiser have concocted a very technical course which will be ideal for the best riders in the world! The competitors will tackle a 60-kilometre lap that they will have to cover three times over the two days of racing. They will start this lap with the Champion Lubricants Enduro Test before arriving at the first time check! The second part of the lap will involve the Technomousse Xtreme Test and finally the Akrapovic Cross Test.
Note that there will be no Akrapovic Super Test on Friday evening because of Covid safety standards!

Marco de Canaveses, a city located in the District of Porto, is a Mecca of Lusitanian Enduro and even if the event will be “closed doors” with no crowds throughout the weekend, no doubt the Motor Clube Marco will go all out to welcome the EnduroGP paddock!

FREEMAN On A Charge?
After the first two GPs contested in France and Italy in September, Steve HOLCOMBE (GB – Beta) is in the lead before the home stretch! The 2019 Vice-Champion is 6 points ahead of his compatriot, teammate, and above all great rival for the title, Brad FREEMAN (GB – Beta).
