The second day at the third round of the Enduro European Championship (EEC) in Casanova di Staffora / Italy was won by the italian rider Maurizio Micheluz. The reigning champion had a tight fight with his countryman Jacopo Cerutti. The winner of the first day, the Brit Tom Sagar, lost a lot of time already in the first lap, when he had a very hard crash in the Enduro-Test. This for he couldn’t reach the two Italians.

De derde van vier EK enduro wedstrijden dit jaar vond op 28 en 29 juni plaats in het Italiaanse gehucht Casanova di Staffora op 100 kilometer ten zuiden van Milaan. In de fraaie groene heuvels was een niet al te moeilijke route uitgezet van 60 kilometer. Daar zat wel veel hoogteverschil in. De paddock lag op 500 meter en de tankstop op bijna 1100 meter boven de zeespiegel. Ook de zeer lange bijna elf minuten durende enduroproef kende datzelfde hoogteverschil. Die bood een lastige combinatie van zeer snelle gravelpaden en veel klimmen en dalen op geitenpaadjes. Menig rijder had daar op het laatste gedeelte de achterrem aan de kook.
De crossproef was een typische grashelling proef met alleen maar afhangende bochten en deze duurde zo’n vier minuten voor de snelste rijders. Kers op de taart was de Xtreme test, helemaal uitgezet in een zijtak van de lokale rivier. Met veel stenen en grote rotsblokken bood deze veel kans op blessures of motorschade. Heel houden en toch snel gaan was het devies.
