Steve HOLCOMBE (Beta) has claimed the outright EnduroGP class victory on day two of the Acerbis GP of Italy, ending the penultimate round of the series ahead of Finn Eero REMES (TM) and Frenchman Loic LARRIEU (Yamaha). Battling throughout the day with REMES, the young Brit kept his nerve to claim his fourth overall win of the championship to date. EnduroGP championship leader Matt PHILLIPS (Sherco) saw his day end in disappointment as the Tasmanian was forced to retire with a mechanical issue.

At the end of a day filled with drama there was delight for Christophe NAMBOTIN (KTM), Giacomo REDONDI (Honda) and Jack EDMONDSON (KTM) on the first day of competition at the Acerbis EnduroGP of Italy. Returning to his very best following a torrid season, NAMBOTIN secured the overall EnduroGP class win while Giacomo REDONDI finally secured the Enduro Junior world championship title, in front of his home fans. Jack EDMONDSON wrapped up the Enduro Youth title.

During 2015 several meetings were organised at the request and with the manufacturers about the future of the Maxxis FIM Enduro World Championship.

At the last meeting held in Geneva on 15 January 2016, the FIM, the promoter ABC Communication and all the manufacturers have found a consensus and reached a comprehensive and unanimous agreement for the creation of categories EnduroGP and Enduro2 from the 2017 season onwards.

• EnduroGP:  Over 250cc – 2 or 4 stroke. No age limit and no entry limit

• Enduro2: Up to 250cc Moto – 2 or 4 stroke. No age limit and no entry limit

The categories FIM Junior, 125cc Youth and Women remain unchanged.

With four Grand Prix in just six weeks the period of late June and early July is very trying for EnduroGP and its stars! And this latest GP AMV Seguros of Euskadi has once again been a tough and tiring weekend for the riders. This latest GP, and subsequent shake-up of the standings, clearly marks a turning point in the season.
