EnduroGP Portugal day 1: Down To The Last Special Test!

The first day of the Acerbis GP of Portugal was action-packed and it promises yet more to come! Three special tests perfectly carved out by Moto Clube Marco, drier weather than expected, and riders all keen to do battle after more than a month and a half of break – everything was in place to have a hell of a day of racing!

And that’s what we got in EnduroGP! While Brad FREEMAN (GB – Beta) started out very strong and took the lead on the first lap his great rival Steve HOLCOMBE (GB – Beta) was closing in. The dark horse of weekend, the returning Josep GARCIA (E – KTM) was also pushing hard, ready to jump on the slightest mistake from the defending champion.

WK enduro Portugal dag 1: Mike en Max mooi aan de finish

Op een echte WK dag in Portugal, zwaar door de vele regen, kwamen deze jonkies heelhuids over. Mike Bokslag verspeelde in proef 8 de 11e plaats maar 12e was ook mooi en zonder straftijd. Er zaten namelijk ook een paar zware route stukken in. De motor staat al weer klaar voor morgen.
Max Schwarte maakt indruk door met erg weinig buitenland ervaring toch aan de finish te komen. Kantje boord want bij het WK is 15 strafminuten de max en hij had er 14 bij elkaar gesprokkeld.

Mike Bokslag 12e in de EY (1:07:08.95 zonder strafminuten)
Max Schwarte 10e J1 (1:26:03.80 met 14 strafminuten en dapper uitgereden).

Mike Bokslag en Max Schwarte rijden EnduroGP Portugal

Twee Nederlanders aan de start van het dubbel weekend in Portugal. In het binnenland op ca. 60 km van kustplaats Porto wordt in Marco de Cavaneses toch nog enduro gereden. Geen vrijdagavond extremetest, geen publiek, wel twee dagen wedstrijd en volgend weekend nog een keer. Vanaf 09:00 uur (maar het is daar één uur vroeger) mogen ze los op een paar pittige stukken route en in ieder geval een serieuze extreme proef. Veel van die grote hunebedden gezien op diverse video’s. Mike Bokslag gaat op herhaling en zal proberen na drie ronden toch in de punten te komen in de Youth klasse. Voor Max Schwarte is het zijn debuut; hij rijdt in de J1 klasse op een Sherco.

EnduroGP: Home REIS Coming Up!

Mathias VAN HOOF (B - Husqvarna)The first two rounds of this second season of the Champion Lubricants Enduro Open World Cup were met with great success in all three categories, and this weekend, everyone will meet again in Marco de Canaveses for the third round of the FIM Borilli Enduro World Championship… let’s check out the news!

In Open 2-stroke, the current leader Gonçalo REIS (P – KTM) will be at home, which will potentially give him even more of on advantage than usual. But behind him, three riders are also ready to fight for the podium. Indeed, only four points separate Robert FRIEDRICH (CZ – KTM), Samuel DAVIES (GB – KTM) and Gonçalo SOBROSA (P – Beta) in the standings behind REIS.
Portugal’s Frederico ROCHA (Husqvarna) and Ricardo WILSON (Beta) will try to play spoilsport and beat their compatriot on home turf.
Meanwhile, Italy’s Filippo GRIMANI (Beta), Spain’s Marti ESCOFET VALLDOSERA (KTM) and Chile’s Tania GONZALEZ (Fantic) will be keen to shine on their first participation in Open 2-Stroke!Open 4-stroke: Who will take the advantage between DIETER and VAN HOOF?

As for the Open 4-stroke, it’s all to play for between the two Belgian riders Damiaens DIETER (B – KTM) and Mathias VAN HOOF (B – Husqvarna)

EnduroGP: For The Last Time!

After a little more than a month with Enduro action, and despite the health situation linked to Covid19, the FIM Borilli EnduroGP World Championship is back on track this weekend for the 3rd and penultimate round of this very special 2020 season!

More Than 10 Years Later…
Marco de Canaveses and Motor Clube Marco have been chosen by the FIM, ABC Communication and the FMP (Portuguese Federation) to host the traditional Portuguese EnduroGP. On this occasion, the organiser have concocted a very technical course which will be ideal for the best riders in the world! The competitors will tackle a 60-kilometre lap that they will have to cover three times over the two days of racing. They will start this lap with the Champion Lubricants Enduro Test before arriving at the first time check! The second part of the lap will involve the Technomousse Xtreme Test and finally the Akrapovic Cross Test.
Note that there will be no Akrapovic Super Test on Friday evening because of Covid safety standards!

Marco de Canaveses, a city located in the District of Porto, is a Mecca of Lusitanian Enduro and even if the event will be “closed doors” with no crowds throughout the weekend, no doubt the Motor Clube Marco will go all out to welcome the EnduroGP paddock!

FREEMAN On A Charge?
After the first two GPs contested in France and Italy in September, Steve HOLCOMBE (GB – Beta) is in the lead before the home stretch! The 2019 Vice-Champion is 6 points ahead of his compatriot, teammate, and above all great rival for the title, Brad FREEMAN (GB – Beta).
