Bringing the ninety fifth running of the International Six Days of Enduro (ISDE) to a thrilling climax, the sixth and final day of action saw Italy do what they have looked like doing ever since the start of the event as they finally lifted the World Trophy team trophy, much to the delight of their home fans. Making it a memorable double for Italy, the host nation also topped the Junior World Trophy category, while the USA put the finishing touches to their incredible week-long performance to win in the Women’s World Trophy category.

Promising a taste of Italian style enduro, the stage is set for the ninety-fifth running of the FIM International Six Days of Enduro (ISDE). Taking place in the Apennine Mountains between Lombardy and Piedmont, the event will run from Monday 30 August through to Saturday 4 September when it will finish with the traditional final day motocross races.

Bringing the event back to Italy for the first time since 2013, when it was held on the island of Sardinia, for 2021 the FIM’s longest running motorcycle race will welcome over six hundred and fifty competitors from thirty nations to Rivanazzano Terme, for what is expected to be six days of picturesque, but challenging competition.

Postponed in 2020 due to the global COVID pandemic, this year the FIM ISDE has attracted riders from all over the World, both World-class competitors and enthusiastic amateurs, all wanting to enjoy the most-prestigious event on the enduro calendar.

Andrea Verona (GASGAS) is an Italian that cannot wait to compete in this year’s FIM International Six Days of Enduro (ISDE). The opportunity to compete in his own ‘back yard’ and represent his country in the World Trophy Team competition with a very real chance of both team and individual success, comes few times in a career.

Already a five-time FIM International Six Days of Enduro competitor, Andrea first raced in the event in Slovakia in 2015, as a Club team competitor.

So, what is it that makes the FIM International Six Days of Enduro truly unique? For starters, there is the history – the event is the longest running event on the annual FIM calendar, first run (as the International Six Days Trial – ISDT as it was back then) in Carlisle, England, in 1913. Then there is the fact that it is a team event – the ISDE is a FIM World Championship competition for national teams, with riders’ performances combining to determine a team’s result. And then there are the rules – many aimed at ensuring the ISDE remains a true test of machine, rider skill, and reliability.

When it comes to the FIM World Trophy competition, each nation can enter a maximum of four riders with the best three scores used to give combined daily and end-of-event team results. In the FIM Junior World Trophy competition, for riders under twenty-three years of age, three riders are entered per nation with the three best scores used to give combined daily and end-of-event team results. In the FIM Women’s World Trophy competition two rider scores are counted, with the team with the best time getting the victory.

The ISDE runs using what many see as ‘old-school enduro rules’ where only riders are allowed to work on their bikes, once in competition.

When the 95th edition of the FIM International Six Days of Enduro (ISDE) gets underway in Lombardy / Piedmont, Italy from 30th August to 4th September 2021, it will mark the eleventh time that this enduro mad country has hosted this historic event. Only Great Britain, which held the original competition in 1913 has welcomed the ISDE more times and holds the record with twelve editions having been held within its territories.

Italy’s long association with this demanding competition, which was originally titled as the International Six Days Trial (ISDT) before being renamed ISDE in the early eighties, began in 1931 as the town of Merano had the unique honour of hosting the event in back-to-back years.
